Ever since early childhood growing up in Germany, Christine Schlageter has been interested in nature. Plants and animals alike were her favorite subjects in school. Fanciful horses always dominated her early drawings. Later, Christine studied photography and after graduating from photography school worked for portrait studios in Germany. There she also learned the fine art of retouching which later enabled her to work for a large daily newspaper in the photofinishing department.

After moving to the U.S. she became a pet photographer specializing in dogs, cats, and horses. Travelling across the country made it possible for her to visualize animals and nature in a variety of different settings which are incorporated into her paintings today.

Christine lives with her husband in Western North Carolina, adjacent to the Smoky Mountains. Riding through the majestic forests on their Pasos or attending horse shows with their award winning Paso Fino performance stallion “Caramba de Prometido” are some of their favorite pastimes.
